Police Chief Cole is Acting City Manager

PRESS RELEASE – The City of Black Hawk announces the retirement of Jack Lewis, effective Friday, November 2nd. Mr. Lewis served as city manager for seven years and helped Black Hawk in advancing its goal in becoming a top resort destination.

“The City Council would like to thank Jack for his seven years of service to the City of Black Hawk,” said Mayor David Spellman. “He was dedicated to the City in his role of City Manager.”

Previously, Mr. Lewis worked in public service in Breckenridge, Golden, and Eagle County. He also worked in the private sector for Vail Resorts, Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, and The Meridian Group.

Police Chief Stephen Cole has been appointed acting city manager. Chief Cole has served as Black Hawk police chief for 13 years, beginning October 31st, 2005. The Mayor and Board of Aldermen expressed confidence in Mr. Cole’s ability to provide continuity in the management of the City’s day-to-day operations and continued development goals.

Commander Ken Lloyd has been appointed Acting Police Chief. He brings more than twenty-six years of experience in law enforcement to the position.
