Top-selling faith DVD in nation

By Patty Unruh

“If this doesn’t cause your hair to stand up on the back of your neck, then I don’t know what will!”

That’s what one Amazon reviewer wrote about “The Isaiah 9:10 Judgment,” the nation’s top-selling faith DVD for both 2012 and so far in 2013, which will be screened at Christ the King Community Church, across the highway from the county fairgrounds, at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 11.

The film is a documentary based on the best-selling “Harbinger,” by Rabbi Jonathan Cahn, which has been on the New York Times best-seller list since its publication date last year.

It focuses on the Old Testament words from the leaders of the nation of Israel nearly 3,000 years ago, when the people were attacked by Assyria. They determined they would rebuild bigger and better than before, without God’s help.

The key Bible verse that records Israel’s defiant response to the attack is Isaiah 9:10, which states: “The bricks are fallen down, but we will build with hewn stones; the sycamores are cut down, but we will change them into cedars.” (King James Version)

But judgment followed, and the nation shortly later was taken captive.

The film shows a parallel to America and the 9/11 terror attacks that killed nearly 3,000 people.

What words did America’s leaders choose to offer consolation to their people following 9/11?

Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle addressed Americans on September 12, only hours after the towers fell and while the rubble still smoked. “America will emerge from this tragedy as we have emerged from all adversity – united and strong. Nothing, nothing can replace the losses of those who have suffered. I know there is only the smallest measure of inspiration that can be taken from this devastation. But there is a passage in the Bible from Isaiah that speaks to all of us at times like this.”

He then went on to read Isaiah 9:10. “The bricks are fallen down, but we will build with hewn stones; the sycamores are cut down, but we will change them into cedars.”

Cahn explained, “Daschle has no idea what he is doing here. He thinks he’s offering comforting words to a grief-stricken people, but he is actually embracing the spiritually defiant and arrogant words of the children of Israel, proclaiming the ancient and ominous vow of the leaders of that nation. He doesn’t realize it, but he is actually inviting more judgment on the nation.”

Then three years later, on the anniversary of the attack, another powerful U.S. senator, John Edwards, addressed the Congressional Black Caucus. He said, “Today, on this day of remembrance and mourning, we have the Lord’s Word to get us through.”

Then he read Isaiah 9:10.

After 18 months in release, “The Isaiah 9:10 Judgment” is still the number one bestselling faith movie at Amazon and currently ranks as the fourth bestselling documentary of any kind.

The DVD will be available for purchase at the screening.
