July 13, 1949 – December 20, 2018
Don Lee Olhausen was born July 13, 1949. “Don O” died December 20, 2018 after a 10-year struggle with early onset Alzheimers.He was the only child of Erna and Henry “Heinie” Olhausen from Hartley and Arnold’s Park, Iowa who preceded him in death. Don is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Fonseca, his children: Donda Gorton and Drew Olhausen as well as three stepdaughters: Kenna Norton, Amanda Norton-Schaal and Alexis Fonseca-Chavez. His two grandsons are Dawson and Jarrett Gorton, and one granddaughter, Maggie Schaal.
Don was a candy-maker who for many years operated a candy store in Central City, and he was an avid baseball fan who loved the Rockies. He also served as a basketball referee for many years after moving to the Denver area where he worked for Coors Distributing. His last job was working for his cousin Don H. Olhausen at Olhausen Pool Tables and Billiards.
A Memorial is scheduled in Central City at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 226 E. First High Street, for 11 am, on March 30, 2019, to be followed by a “Celebration of Life” at 1:00 pm at the Central City Elks Lodge, located at 113 Main Street in Central City.
